PRIVATE TOUR – Baroque art in Rome with a “wow” panoramic aperitif

Rome is worldwide known not only for its archeological heritage but also for its Baroque buildings.
Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Michelangelo Merisi, nicknamed “Caravaggio”, Francesco Castelli, the so-called Borromini and Pietro Da Cortona are some of the artists who worked in the Eternal City and left some of their most important works of art in architecture, sculpture and painting as well.
Thanks to this private walking tour, you will discover the best of Roman Baroque Style and you will finish it in an exclusive and perfectly suitable venue, thanks to a panoramic aperitif overlooking the elegant core of Rome.

Meeting with your private licensed tour guide in Rome to enjoy a cultural tour focused on the Baroque Style, which characterizes most of its religious and civic buildings. Your walking tour starts in Piazza di Spagna, one of the most famous squares, the name of which comes from Palazzo di Spagna, the seat of the Spanish Embassy. There you cannot help climbing the imposing 135-step stairs in front of the Church of Trinità dei Monti and taking a photo of Fontana della Barcaccia, dating back to the early Baroque period and sculptured by Pietro Bernini whose son Gian Lorenzo was the more famous of the two. Your second stop will be at another Roman highlight, Trevi Fountain, which the film “La Dolce Vita” by Federico Fellini immortalized. In 1732 Nicola Salvi started it and in 1762 it was inaugurated. Throwing a coin into its water is a well-known tradition, if you wish to return to Rome.
Then you will continue your walk and visit the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi , which keeps three of the greatest works by Caravaggio – St. Matthew’s Calling up, St. Matthew and the Angel and St. Matthew’s Martyrdom – shown in Contarelli Chapel.
Step by step towards other “hidden corners”, your tour will end in Piazza Navona, once Domitian’s ancient Stadium, where you will be struck by the beauty of the famous Fountain of the four Rivers, another masterpiece by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the “father” of the Italian Baroque.
And finally, why not an extension of your full immersion in the Baroque Roman art? How? By sipping a panoramic aperitif on the rooftop of a historic palace, the interiors of which are fully decorated with Baroque style pieces of furniture and paintings. There you will admire one of the most striking views of the Baroque elliptic Piazza Navona and so it will be a breathtaking memory of your Roman stay.
